My roots run deep in the state of Tennessee, and I was born in the hills of the eastern part of that state. Whenever I am able to go back for a visit, I never really want to leave there. You see when I was around 2 years old my parents left the state, never to return to be residents again. My ventures to the area of my birth as an adult led me to believe that it was their loss (as well as mine) to never to return to live. Maybe one of these days, my dream will come true.
Until I started down the path of researching my roots, I really never knew about Tennessee's history, the struggle for statehood, or about the origins of their counties.
